This time the group was some future big time rippers; Carter, Kelsey, Cole, Jayden and Tallon were all in town for the weekend with their families. A quick call and bang.. we’re riding. Tanya was our little shuttle bunny and made sure that we had our lunch break at the right time.

The group…schooled Elementary School a ton of times from all three drop zones. Super sunny day and tons of fun riding the group even took a shot at Bull Moose so they could see the Cauldron Road Gaps. We thought Carter was going to hit it while we weren’t looking.

We were chatting with some parents of the crew once we got back and it looks like a return visit is coming with the adults this summer so…another great weekend in the books for 2010. This season is already flying don’t miss out book early.

What a huge first weekend for Kamloops Bike Company’s DH trails. Park Cycle from Edmonton had there Downhill team out to show us how it’s done and did they ever. To add to the numbers, Conrad from Fernie, added another 18 riders to the group to make this the largest ever first day group. The first ride was down Ol’ School. This is the best shape we have ever seen it in, thanks to a great preseason clean up. Talk about some serious pinners!!! Five female riders made sure that the boys had their ‘A’ game. One of the ladies was even putting her brand spankin’ new Demo 8 a taste of the good life in the Kamloops Bike Company dirt. Once to the bottom, high fives and load up. Bull Moose!!! A little change of pace with the switch back trail pattern of Bull Moose. We regrouped at the top of Cebo’s Revenge and dropped in. Have to admit; when you take a quick look up behind you to see the long string of riders dropping in one after another…That’s what Kamloops Bike Company is about. Every rider pinning it and next thing you know… The Cauldron Road Gaps. There was rumour that there were some takers for the 20’ x 28’ ‘Roam’ road gap. In no time at all, there was a steady steam of riders hitting the 11’X17’ gapper while the boys were looking over the ‘Big Boy’.

Back to the Fly Circus…Tedman starts it off with the text book table off the gap and made it look simple. Back to the top.. Tedman leads in a second rider right on his back wheel and hits the longest no-hander ever!!! I seriously thought he was going for the no-hand landing.

This group had some serious jumpers mixed in. We continued the rest of the day.. Bambi was next …Ol’ School was the class favorite which is no surprise. Ol’ School has it all and lots of it. The whole crew had a great time, overall another great weekend had by riders at Kamloops Bike Company. Come on out to Kamloops and join the insanity!!

After taking a break for a day to enjoy what Kamloops had to offer other than great riding they were back and hungry for more trails. Chuck the owner and creator of Kamloops Bike Company took them out for a beautiful day of XC riding in Peterson Creek.

The ride began with a 200 meter climb right out the chute. Once ontop the fun began. The trail rides across a plateau and then decends down with some short steep sections and some other technical single track. The ride was a great 2.5 hour ride finishing at the Kamloops Bike Ranch where they took advantage of trying out some of the jumps avaliable there.

The Bell Tower was the ride of choice offering some climbing and some fun, fast winding single-track. Derek and Lynn lived in Manitoba before and they said ‘we have learned that riding in B.C. you must ride up to ride down” The Bell Tower loop is just that. It was challenging enough, but fast and furious enough as it was their first ride of the season. The best part was when the trail started going down and Lynn started to grin and said ‘I love the down’. It was a great day in Kamloops and Derek and Lynn both admitted the climb up was worth the down.

Brad and Kieran from Park Cycle in Edmonton stopped by and for the second time in as many years became the first riders of the season.

We had XC on the menu this time around. They wanted to see some of the epic trails that are already open up first hand. For two days we hit some prime early season riding.

The first day was in the great new area we call Bell Tower. Some of The Intermontane Challenge was staged here. Some great but little climbs took us up to a great singletrack descent. This section has a ton of traversing in it. The trails were dry and the weather was perfect. Still a little chilly for shorts and riding jersey but it was only the start of March, what can we expect. We ran into a pile of riders getting out for early season rides which just added to the atmosphere. For a couple of guys from Edmonton, seeing the trails with riders on them was a great sight. We spent a couple of hours out on the trails just hitting all the different options out at Bell Tower. We didn’t even get them all…The call of a cold one was too strong!!!

Day two was in local City of Kamloops Park… Kenna Cartwright. We didn’t have the nice weather of the day before and we got a little taste of a wet day. Riding in Kamloops doesn’t give you too many chances to ride in mud so when the opportunity presents itself…you grab it!!! It was such a great ride… When you ride semi slicks all season, hitting the wet and slippery is a little bit of an eye opener. We saw our bikes pick up about 20 lb of mud but man. It’s hard not to smile when you are covered on mud. Another couple hours of biking and then we decided on hot coffees and dry clothes.

We always have a blast when Park Cycle roll into town and this time around was no exception. We stoked to see that they are coming back Easter weekend and they want to hit the trails at Little Shuswap and back to basics… You guessed it! Time for some Freeriding!!!! We’re getting our crew out to the lake this weekend to get the place all ready for our first groups that have already booked for Easter Long. Time to get the dust off of that D/H rig!!!

Thanks Brad and Kieran it’s always great to see you guys enjoying everything Kamloops and the Kamloops Bike Company have to offer.

KBC had its first group out to the lake at the end of April! A great day of riding was had at Little Shuswap Lake with a wild group from Edmonton. This was the latest we’ve started riding thanks to winter refusing to surrender. We still had some snow to deal with on the road up, but as for the trails…they were ready.

We are going to be mixing it up a little this year with rides in Kamloops and out at KBC at the Little Shuswap. Stay tuned…
